Facial Implants
Implants placed on top of facial bones augment the shape of these bones. Facial implants in the cheeks and chin are most common. If the face is deficient in the lower part, a chin implant can improve the balance. Likewise, cheek implants correct flatness or shallowness of the cheeks.
The implant is carefully placed through small incisions in the skin or through the mouth. Because it is put right on top of the bone, swelling can be fairly pronounced and healing time therefore takes one to two weeks. The enhancement can be subtle or dramatic, depending on the size and shape of the implant. These changes are discussed and illustrated with photographic diagrams and sketches prior to surgery.
